Construction
Built in 1902, this building is unique in Western Switzerland, overlooking the Areuse plain.
Jean-Pierre du Pasquier, a self-taught architect and founder of a painted canvas and Indian cloth factory in Cortaillod, modelled Vaudijon on a 3-storey Empire-style building, with bas-reliefs of the 4 seasons by Parisian sculptor Calame-Rosset illustrating the rotunda, topped by a 20th-century neo-classical pediment, and an 18th-century interior, furnished and upholstered with care by his Indiennes.
The land is planted with vines. Du Pasquier devoted part of his life to landscaping his terraces and gardens, including a vegetable garden, greenhouses and a pond. An atypical house with a breathtaking charm, maintained and restored according to the rules of the time and the art.
